Did you know that a massage also counts as exercise?
Self care was never so easy!
Massaging yourself with warm organic oil is a profound expression of self-love and rejuvenation. Gentle touch increases oxytocin in the bloodstream, countering the effects of elevated cortisol, calming the nervous system.
In addition, massaging yourself with warm oil calms, enhances circulation and lymphatic flow, removes blockages and excretes toxins, and nourishes skin and muscles, combating aging.
When is the best time to do oil massage?
You can introduce warm oil massage into your morning or evening routine. Since the oil needs to be absorbed and digested through your skin, you should make sure your stomach is empty, so make sure there is minimum 2 hours between your last meal and massage.
Do always shower the excess oil with warm water after the massage. This is particularly important in the evening when your digestive system slows down and your body may have a harder time “digesting” the oil.
When not to do oil massage:
If you are pregnant! You do not want to encourage any expelling, downward movement during this period.
When you are sick, have a cold, indigestion, lots of mucus in your system. This lowers your digestive capacity, and in this case adding oil is not supportive.
If you suffer from skin irritation.
If you have your period. Let the body do its own cleansing during your menstrual flow.
Which oil to use?
Herbal oils deeply penetrate the tissues. Choose the right oil for you depending on your skin type, and how you feel:
Choose "Sandalwoord& Myrrh"oil if you have a dry skin, and in general are feeling in need of more grounding effect.
Choose "Lotus & Geranium" oil if you quickly suffer from skin (or mental) irritations and have a sensitive skin in general
Choose "Orange & Neroli" oil if you naturally have an oily, clammy skin. This oil is slightly lighter and has an uplifting and energising effect.
Instruction
Lie a towel on your bathroom floor (or somewhere warm), where you can comfortable sit.
Warm the oil bottle in hot water until the oil is warm, about 40 degrees so that it feels comfortable on your skin. Do not microwave the oil!
Apply some oil onto your hands.
Start from your feet, then legs, using slow, gentle movements. Use long strokes towards your heart on longer parts of your limbs, and circular movements around your knees, joints, shoulders.
Massage the abdomen and chest in a wide, clockwise circular motion.
Don't forget to massage your breasts, and underarms activating your lymph nodes.
Massage the shoulders, arms, hands and fingers like you did your legs.
Massage the neck with long strokers towards your heart.
Finally massage forehead and jaw.
Applying oil to your head to support sclap health and strengthen the hair is also wonderful - use then the "Bringadi Intensive Hair Treatment Oil" .
Let the oil soak into your body at least 15 minutes, maximum 45 minutes.
Remove excess oil with kitchen paper, and shower. Use an old towel to dry yourself.
Begin with once or twice a week. Oil Massage is part of daily selfcare so you can increase the frequency to daily if you wish.
